How MCP works

All of Remly,
in the chat

MCP is the Model Context Protocol, an open standard for connecting AI clients to outside tools. Connect once and any MCP client can reach what Remly has indexed in the cloud – without leaving the conversation. It works through three tools: search finds the passages that match your question, get_item pulls a specific file or message back in full, and get_context gathers the passages behind a question. Your AI client writes the answer.

  • Search everythingOne semantic search across Drive, Gmail, Notion, and any local Mac files you’ve chosen to sync to the cloud.
  • Context on demandAsk in plain language and Remly returns the passages behind it, so your AI answers from your knowledge – not the open web.
  • Cited sourcesEvery passage Remly returns carries the exact file, page, or message it came from.
  • Pull in any fileBring a specific document or thread into the conversation when you need the full context.
  • Always currentRemly keeps the index fresh, so the agent works from the latest version, not a stale copy.
  • Any MCP clientUse it from Claude, ChatGPT, and any other MCP-capable tool.

Why it’s different

Your knowledge base, open to any agent.

Ask in the tool you already work in, and let it answer from Drive, Gmail, Notion, and the Mac files you’ve chosen to sync – with the sources attached.
